ESCS-IPL UNESCO Chair becomes member of the MIL Alliance network
The UNESCO Chair of Communication, Media Literacy, and Citizenship, at the School of Communication and Media Studies (ESCS) of the Polytechnic University of Lisbon (IPL), was recently accepted as a member of UNESCO’s Media and Information Literacy (MIL) Alliance, a global network that brings together hundreds of organizations around the world working to promote media literacy.
In this way, the UNESCO Chair at ESCS-IPL reinforces its mission of developing and disseminating media literacy aligned with human rights and democratic values.
“We are excited about the contributions you or your organization will bring to the MIL Alliance community,” the welcome letter reads.
The three main objectives of the MIL Alliance are 1) to establish global partnerships to strengthen the impact of media literacy work; 2) to enable the community to speak as one voice on certain critical issues, particularly regarding public policies; and 3) to serve as a common platform, supported by UNESCO, for all entities and networks whose work is related to media literacy.
Aware of the responsibility and recognition that comes with joining the MIL Alliance, the UNESCO Chair at ESCS-IPL will now find the best way to actively participate in this network.
