Workshop on online well-being marked by the sharing of personal experiences

The UNESCO Chair in Communication, Media and Information Literacy and Citizenship held a workshop on online well-being with 50 young people aged between 15 and 18, on 13 December, in Beja.

The session, entitled “Media literacy: Seeing beyond the screen” (“Literacia mediática: Ver para além do ecrã”, in the original), was part of another edition of the CIS Digital Camp 2025, an initiative of the National Cybersecurity Centre/Safer Internet Centre (CNCS/CIS), in partnership with Fórum Estudante.

Over the course of two hours, the young participants, working in groups, were challenged to reflect on different sensitive situations happening online, inspired by real-life stories, and to propose strategies for safety and well-being, both individual and collective. The approach aimed to go beyond the obvious and to encourage critical thinking about how these ideas could be really applied in their own lives.

At the end of the session, the groups shared the result of their work in different formats, ranging from illustrated posters and lists of ideas to simulated interviews with group members, highlighting meaningful experiences and learning related to the topics addressed.

This was the third time that the UNESCO Chair at ESCS-IPL took part in the CIS Digital Camp, having also led workshops in the first and second editions, held in Lisbon and Santarém, respectively.
